**About the Job:**

River Edge Behavioral Health is seeking a full-time Certified Peer Specialist to provide services in our Adult and Child & Adolescent Units.

Job Description:

  • Provide paraprofessional social services to patients/clients/consumers and their families, participate in treatment team planning, and perform crisis intervention.
  • Assist in dealing with the personal and social problems of clients.
  • May provide supportive counseling to consumers and families and/or serve as a liaison for social services.
  • Prepare lesson plans for group topics, maintain medical records, and document daily group notes.
  • Perform case management duties, and group skills training and refer clients to needed services and resources.

We offer a range of services including residential programs, outpatient services, and crisis stabilization.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have a primary diagnosis of mental illness or a dual diagnosis of mental illness and addictive disease, and a strong desire to identify themselves as a person with mental illness (current or former consumer of mental health services).
  • Applicants must hold a GED or High School diploma.
  • In addition, applicants must demonstrate strong reading comprehension and written communication skills.
  • You must have demonstrated experience with leadership, advocacy, or governance, and be well-grounded in your recovery (one year between diagnosis and application to the training).
  • Must meet the Qualifications for Peer Specialist as defined by the DBHDD Peer Specialist Project.
