About Us:
River Edge Behavioral Health is a leading resource for mental health, substance use disorder treatments, and support services in Georgia. We serve over 10,000 individuals annually, providing a comprehensive continuum of care that addresses the unique needs of each client.
About the Role:
We are seeking a full-time Certified Peer Specialist to provide services in our Adult and Child & Adolescent Units. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to identify themselves as a person with mental illness (current or former consumer of mental health services) and possess excellent communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide a broad range of social services to patients/clients/consumers and their families, participate in treatment team planning, and perform crisis intervention.
- Assist in dealing with personal and social problems of clients.
- May provide supportive counseling to consumers and families and/or serve as a liaison for social services.
- Prepare lesson plans for group topics, maintain medical records, and document daily group notes.
- Perform case management duties, and group skills training and refer clients to needed services and resources.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must have a primary diagnosis of mental illness or a dual diagnosis of mental illness and addictive disease.
- Applicants must hold a GED or High School diploma.
- In addition, applicants must demonstrate strong reading comprehension and written communication skills.
- You must have demonstrated experience with leadership, advocacy, or governance, and be well-grounded in your recovery.
- Must meet the Qualifications for Peer Specialist as defined by the DBHDD Peer Specialist Project.
Benefits:
- A competitive salary of $45,000 - $55,000 per year.
- A comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
