Job Summary
The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities is seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Counselor for the Deaf to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in providing rehabilitation services to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide vocational rehabilitation services to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, including assessment, counseling, and job placement.
- Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans to help clients achieve their employment goals.
- Collaborate with other professionals, including interpreters, counselors, and job coaches, to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in deaf rehabilitation, including American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, or a related field.
- Experience working with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a rehabilitation setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including proficiency in ASL.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
