Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled RN Senior Clinical Data Quality Specialist to join our team at the Helen F. Graham Center in Newark, DE. This individual will lead and facilitate Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) through the management of one or more clinical registries within designated service lines.

The successful candidate will serve as a quality professional, leading and educating staff on the tools and strategies needed to drive continuous improvement. They will collaborate with key stakeholders to assess and improve quality measures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage one or more clinical registries and ensure compliance with applicable external reporting criteria.
  • Perform registry lead functions or operate at the highest level of registry certification requirements.
  • Identify cases that meet criteria for abstraction into the STS registry.
  • Assess data inclusion/exclusion based on defined data dictionary.
  • Abstract patient data relative to specific cases, querying providers as needed.
  • Ensure quality and integrity of outcome data, identifying issues with data collection methods.
  • Establish and perform quality control checks for assigned database.
  • Meet or exceed established timeframe to abstract records.
  • Identify trends, concerns, and opportunities in data, presenting findings to the Thoracic Surgery team.
  • Reconcile and resolve discrepancies within abstracted data.
  • Provide education and guidance on data inclusion/exclusion based on defined data dictionary.
  • Support committees, teams, and leadership with data collection, analysis, and identification of trends, benchmarks, and variances in data.
  • Develop and implement data validation methodologies.
  • Develop and implement workflows to support new/expanded registries.
  • Collaborate with quality team, Service Line leadership, and Office of Quality and Patient Safety to identify and close gaps in care.
  • Prepare routine and ad hoc reports to support strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing Degree from an accredited school required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of related Thoracic Surgery, Surgical or Oncology nursing experience required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Special Requirements

  • BLS certification required.
  • Registered Nurse required.
