Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Senior Linux Systems Specialist to enhance our technical team. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in Linux systems and will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing our enterprise server environments.


Location: Washington, DC

Clearance Requirements: U.S. Citizenship and DOD Secret Clearance

Experience Level: 6-10 years


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct systems engineering and software development across extensive enterprise server infrastructures (e.g., Linux, Red Hat, CentOS).
  • Establish and uphold standards for information systems procedures.
  • Perform technical evaluations and analyses to enhance system performance.
  • Support clients in the development and maintenance of system baselines.
  • Analyze server loads and collaborate with technical leads to provide tuning recommendations.
  • Manage daily Operations & Maintenance tasks effectively.
  • Implement operating system software updates, upgrades, and patches.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as required.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficient in Linux systems, including Red Hat and its derivatives (CentOS, RHEL, RockyOS).
  • Experience in shell scripting and adeptness with the Linux command line.
  • Extensive Linux Administration support experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Technical guidance experience in software engineering techniques and automated support tools.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Ruby, Bash, and PHP.
  • Experience with cloud services including Amazon Web Services (AWS), CloudFormation, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet Manifests, Foreman).
  • Understanding of cloud computing models, including PaaS, IaaS, and SaaS.
  • Experience with Container as a Service (CaaS) technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift).

Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in a Linux enterprise environment.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred, or 10+ years of relevant experience with necessary certifications.
  • Minimum DOD 8570 IAT II Certifications (e.g., Sec+, CISSP, GCIH, CYSA+).
  • Certifications such as CompTia Linux+, Red Hat RHCSA, RHCE, RHCA, or SUSE Certified Administrator SCA, or SCE are preferred.
