Position Summary: We are seeking a Senior Linux Administrator to contribute to an IT program supporting the United States Marshals Service (USMS). In this role, you will collaborate with a team responsible for delivering computing capabilities and comprehensive support to our clients and users. The team is tasked with constructing and maintaining user environments, providing expert support, and managing application-level software and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work exclusively on-site with no remote options.
  • Execute installations and updates for Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Assist clients with application installations and updates.
  • Troubleshoot software installation issues and provide solutions.
  • Monitor systems, perform hardware troubleshooting, and conduct routine maintenance and security updates.
  • Ensure adherence to security protocols and standards.
  • Conduct system backups and facilitate data recovery processes.
  • Document procedures and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Monitor resource utilization, anticipate potential issues, and propose solutions.
  • Manage production and development systems, offering Tier III technical support as required.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team objectives and enhance processes.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of systems.
  • Oversee configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various Microsoft Windows OS versions.
  • Manage configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of RedHat Linux OS versions.
  • Provide software and hardware support to the customer development team.
  • Establish and maintain offsite disaster recovery environments.
  • Review system and security logs, reporting incidents or potential threats to the network and infrastructure.
  • Work with load balancing, failover, and data replication technologies.
  • Utilize industry-standard patching solutions such as WSUS and Ivanti.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 9 years of relevant experience (or 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree).
  • Active Secret clearance or higher.
  • Ability to work effectively in both team settings and independently.
  • Understanding of IT security best practices.
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative team spirit.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure.
  • Advanced proficiency in various software applications including MS Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Outlook, and MS Project.
  • Experience with compliance and the application of DISA STIG releases.
  • Ability to interpret IAVAs and address issues as necessary.
  • Experience in managing Windows Server 2019/2022 and RHEL 7/8/9 servers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with VMWare ESXi and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of ADFS, identity management, and PKI certificates.
  • Familiarity with Cisco Hyperflex technologies.
  • Experience in scripting within PowerShell or Linux environments.
  • Understanding of disk storage systems and NetApp storage products.
  • Experience managing container environments such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with code repositories and CI servers like Gitlab and Jenkins.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, and GPOs.
  • Understanding of application transport and network protocols.
  • Relevant certifications in Windows Server, Red Hat, NetApp, VMware, or Cisco.
  • Experience managing Active Directory and related services.
