Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Recreational Therapist to join our team at Trinity Health. As a Recreational Therapist, you will work with patients on an inpatient rehab unit to provide evaluation and treatment of leisure needs. Your goal will be to help patients and their families engage in recreational activities that support the healing process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain good rapport and cooperative relationships with patients, families, and staff.
  • Approach conflict in a constructive manner and participate in resolving problems.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
  • Stay up-to-date on knowledge and skills to perform job duties safely and effectively.
  • Provide quality patient care by considering age-specific, developmental, and cultural needs.
  • Identify and assist in resolving problems related to safety, sanitation, and maintenance of the environment.
  • Practice effective communication in all interactions.
  • Promote a positive work environment by demonstrating teamwork.
  • Orient patients and families to therapeutic purposes, procedures, and opportunities.
  • Facilitate patient and family participation in leisure activities.
  • Prepare activities for patients staying in the hospital inpatient rehab unit and head pain unit.
  • Teach daily group classes on the head pain unit.
  • Facilitate the Stroke Support Group one time per month.
  • Stay up-to-date on participating insurance guidelines for rehabilitation services.
  • Provide thorough documentation on each patient interaction.
  • Complete daily charges for each patient while adhering to ethical practices.
  • Work with Manager and secretarial staff to ensure schedules are managed well.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy from an accredited university.
