Job Title: Patient Access Representative

At Sentara Healthcare, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team. As a Patient Access Representative, you will be the first point of contact for patients and families, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth registration process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient identity and select the correct patient record
  • Review schedules and physician orders to register patients for the appropriate service
  • Scan important documents, such as insurance cards, ID's, Living Wills, and POAs, and verify and enter patient demographic and insurance information in the electronic health record
  • Explain and complete complex regulatory and compliance documents, adhering to all applicable privacy and compliance standards
  • Collect co-payments, deposits, and outstanding balances, performing transactions securely

Requirements:

  • Two years of customer service and/or data entry experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of third-party payers, ICD-9/CPT coding, and medical terminology preferred
