**Job Summary**

The Environmental Compliance Specialist performs critical analyses and assessments to ensure compliance with water quality regulations in Montana. Key responsibilities include:

Conducting inspections of industrial, commercial, and residential facilities to ensure compliance with water quality rules and permit requirements.

Providing training and support to facilities to help them comply with regulations.

Determining whether facilities are operating in compliance with water quality rules and permit requirements.

Composing clear and concise documents to support the Department's mission and program goals.

Acting as a liaison between the Department and the public and industry on water quality compliance.

Initiating enforcement action and managing subsequent actions for facilities outside of compliance.

**Qualifications**

Bachelor's degree in a science-based discipline, including those associated with resource protection or management, human health protection, or community planning.

Two years of job-related experience in environmental resource protection and regulation, or in a related scientific profession.

Current valid Driver's License and clean driving record in accordance with State of Montana Vehicle Use Policy.
