Job Overview

The Financial Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the Accounting Team while actively engaging in daily accounting tasks. This includes, but is not limited to, executing and reviewing: Journal Entries; Reconciliations; Accounts Receivable; Accounts Payable; Fixed Assets; Financial Reporting; Budgeting; Month-End Closings; and Audits (both internal and external).

This position guarantees that departmental protocols align with generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls. Additionally, the Financial Operations Manager will be tasked with identifying, recommending, and implementing automation solutions within accounting and related functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as one of the primary Accountants on the team, executing and reviewing Trust and Corporate Accounting functions.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities within the accounting department.
  • Supervise the Accounting Team while continuing to perform and review: financial reporting; general and trust accounting; payables; budgeting/forecasting; and operational reporting & analysis.
  • Prepare and oversee the annual tax reporting, including Form 990, Personal Property, and other relevant filings.
  • Collaborate closely with the Financial Data Analytics Team to prepare and manage financial statements, operational reports, budget variance analyses, financial forecasts, annual budgets, and other analytical reports generated by the Accounting Team.
  • Monitor financial and operational activities, critical performance metrics, and statistical data, transforming this information into actionable reporting for decision-making.
  • Utilize financial software to generate essential data and insights for management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, as well as current accounting standards.
  • Draft and revise relevant policies and procedures as needed.
  • Assist in corporate strategy planning, execution, and performance measurement.
  • Coordinate the annual audit of financial operations to ensure compliance with state regulations and statutes.
  • Ensure that disbursement requests are properly authorized in accordance with company policies.
  • Develop and maintain external relationships with banks, audit firms, investment managers/custodians, and financial software vendors to facilitate effective financial operations.

Experience Requirements

  • 4 to 6 years of prior experience in a supervisory or managerial role within Accounting, demonstrating progressive responsibility.
  • 3 or more years of experience in a leadership capacity within Financial Data Analytics.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • CPA certification is a plus.

Technical Proficiencies

Proficient in:

- Financial accounting/reporting software (such as Microsoft Dynamics and Maestro)

- Financial database software (like Tableau, ProdBI, or similar at an advanced level)

- MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint at an expert level)
