Role Summary:
The Bureau of Fire Prevention is looking to fill two Associate Engineer positions. This division plays a crucial role in the Department's objectives by focusing on public education, fire investigations, and ensuring compliance with safety codes.

Key Responsibilities:
As an Associate Engineer, you will:

  • Review engineering plans and specifications for various building types to ensure adherence to the California Building Code and related regulations.
  • Provide expert guidance to stakeholders including architects, contractors, and developers regarding fire safety standards.
  • Assess proposals for alternative construction methods and materials in relation to fire safety regulations.
  • Conduct on-site inspections to verify that completed work aligns with approved designs.

Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $125,000 to $158,318.16, which includes a non-pensionable pay component.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or possession of an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate.
Experience: A minimum of three years of progressive professional engineering experience.

Licenses:
A valid California driver's license is mandatory.

Competencies:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of fire safety codes, building regulations, and possess experience in evaluating fire protection systems.

The selection will involve an assessment of qualifications and experience, followed by interviews for candidates whose profiles best match the position requirements.
