Fire Safety Engineer Consultant

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Safety Engineer Consultant to join our team at WSP. As a key member of our Fire and Life Safety Team, you will be responsible for providing high-level technical assistance and guidance on fire and life safety systems for building projects in the public and private sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, design, and develop fire and life safety systems, including automatic sprinkler, fire alarm, mass notification systems, smoke control, egress analysis, and building and fire code analysis review and compliance.
- Interpret building code, life safety, and fire code requirements, including familiarity with ICC and NFPA codes, including IBC and NFPA 101.
- Review architectural drawings for compliance with building and fire code requirements.
- Negotiate with authorities having jurisdiction on fire safety designs and proposals.
- Design fire protection and life safety systems, including automatic fire sprinkler systems, fire detection and alarm systems, smoke management systems, and egress systems.
- Carry out and review fire engineering calculations, including smoke modeling and evacuation analysis.
- Assist in the commissioning of fire protection and life safety systems in commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.
- Directly interface with clients and organize in-house resources.
- Develop project proposals and budgets, conduct financial management of all projects, and mentor junior staff.
- Prepare technical reports and specifications, participate in department initiatives, and contribute to the overall business development of the company.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related engineering science degree or equivalent years of experience.
- 7+ years of fire protection and life safety consulting experience.
- P.E. license.
- Experience and proven ability to manage projects and teams in a fire consultancy environment in the US.
- Experience in fire protection engineering design applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- DOD/Federal Work Experience.
- REVIT and AutoCAD proficiency.
- Supervisory experience.
