Key Responsibilities:
The primary focus of this role is to assemble a diverse range of products while achieving quality and productivity targets within a manufacturing environment. This position requires close collaboration with team members, the area Lead, and supervisors to meet performance objectives in areas such as Efficiency, Defects Per Unit (DPU), Reporting Accuracy, Scrap Reduction, Inventory Management, and Time Loss Accuracy. Performance goals are established quarterly, and overall team effectiveness is evaluated against these metrics.
Essential Duties:
- Assemble various products in accordance with established work instructions and schematics.
- Set up and operate production equipment and fixtures as necessary.
- Achieve proficiency in multiple assembly tasks while adhering to safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Conduct preparatory tasks, including line clearance and changeover processes.
- Inspect personal and peer work, performing basic repairs as needed.
- Provide cross-training or mentorship to colleagues in areas of expertise.
- Accurately complete manufacturing documentation, initiate material requests, report quality concerns, and record measurements as required.
- Ensure accurate identification and counting of point-of-use materials, reporting any shortages promptly.
- Adhere to all corporate, regulatory, safety, and production policies and procedures.
- Maintain an exemplary attendance record.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; must be an Intuitive Surgical employee in good standing for a minimum of nine months or possess at least three years of relevant experience in complex mechanical assembly.
- Language Proficiency: Ability to read, write, and comprehend English, including instructions, correspondence, and memos. Capable of presenting information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Mathematical Competence: Proficient in basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to calculate averages, percentages, and ranges, and to interpret specifications and tolerances.
- Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and handle standardized situations with minimal variables. Understanding of material flow from stock to finished goods, Bill-of-Material structure, and cycle counting procedures.
- Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with personal computers for daily tasks and ability to utilize systems (Agile/SAP) for checking drawings, BOM structures, and training records.
- Additional Skills: Flexibility to work varying shifts, complete required training, and collaborate effectively in a team environment. Ability to use tools, timers, and rulers, and to work in controlled environments while adhering to cleanliness standards.
