Job Summary

The Young Mens Christian Association of Rochester is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Lead Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our childcare staff, you will be responsible for planning and implementing daily programs for young children, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that promote cognitive, social, and emotional growth in children.
  • Lead daily classroom activities, including arts and crafts, music, and outdoor play.
  • Ensure accurate attendance records and maintain open communication with parents and guardians.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with colleagues and parents, promoting a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Collaborate with management staff to address any issues or concerns that may arise.
  • Participate in center events, such as field trips and school pictures.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, with six credit-bearing classes in Early Childhood.
  • Meet all OCFS regulations and have experience leading groups of children.
  • Knowledge of various resources for programming ideas and the skills to utilize that information in directing daily activities.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
  • Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting.
  • Ability to remain calm, objective, and respectful in potentially stressful situations.
  • Ability to move around the room to assist children and supervise daily activities.
  • Ability to lift young children and objects up to 40 lbs.
