The Head Middle School Cross Country Coach is responsible for guiding the middle school team in partnership with the Head Varsity Coach at Greensboro Day School, an esteemed institution within the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA) and the Piedmont Triad Athletic Conference (PTAC). This role involves a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends, with the middle school cross country team practicing bi-weekly on campus.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs the middle school team in accordance with NFHS, PTAC, and Greensboro Day School standards.
  • Organizes and maintains a consistent practice schedule and oversees equipment management.
  • Monitors students during competitions and events.
  • Engages in regular communication with parents and guardians.
  • Ensures adherence to coaching protocols and emergency procedures.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Undertakes other tasks as assigned by the administration.

COACHING COMPETENCIES:

  • Advocate for student-athletes.
  • Proactive, effective, and professional communicator.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in playing or coaching at the high school, collegiate, or professional level.
  • Familiarity with sport regulations (NFHS and NCISAA).
  • Dynamic and energetic coaching approach.
  • Positive team player within the coaching staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Daily responsibilities include supervising students outdoors and traveling for competitions. Availability for weekend or evening commitments may be necessary based on the seasonal schedule.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Coaches must prioritize student safety during practices and events, demonstrate agility, and be capable of lifting weights up to 50 pounds. Frequent exposure to elevated noise levels is expected.

DIRECT REPORTS:

This position does not entail direct reports for the Head Middle School Coach.
