About the Opportunity

The American Institutes for Research (AIR) is seeking a highly motivated Researcher Intern to join our Workforce Development program area. As a Researcher Intern, you will have the opportunity to work with our team to support the healthy, productive, and evolving workforce vital to the United States' economy and democracy.

This part-time internship will be approximately 12-14 hours per week and may be conducted remotely within the United States or from one of our U.S. office locations. The internship period may range from October 2024 through the end of April 2025, depending on student availability and project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct systematic literature reviews to support research activities
  • Assist staff in the review, identification, and development of scholarly information describing research findings
  • Participate in the collection, analysis, and review of research and evaluation data
  • Develop spreadsheets and databases to support project activities
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative research data and contribute to the reporting and interpretation of findings
  • Support communication, dissemination, and outreach activities as needed

Qualifications

  • Must be a current student for the duration of the internship and enrolled in a Doctoral degree program in fields such as economics, psychology, sociology, statistics, computer science, public policy, public health, or other social science-related fields
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of data collection and analysis methodologies and techniques, such as survey design, analysis of program administrative data, and conduct of structured interviews, observations, and focus groups
  • Experience using statistical software programs such as R, SPSS, or Stata to clean and analyze large data sets is required
  • Knowledge and skills with multivariate statistical analyses are required
