**CPI Investigative Supervisor I**
This role may also be designated as Supervisor II.
The CPI Supervisor is responsible for delivering advanced consultative services, technical guidance, and supervisory oversight.
This position leads a team of administrative personnel and caseworkers tasked with conducting investigations and managing Alternative Response (AR) cases within the CPI Division.
The Supervisor offers case consultations and oversees the progress of cases within the unit by leveraging data analytics to identify trends and patterns related to risk and child safety concerns.
In this capacity, the Supervisor is responsible for recruiting, managing, and developing staff through performance evaluations, individual meetings, case assessments, data analysis, field observations, and team discussions to ensure efficiency and adherence to policies and service standards.
Providing expert advice, analysis, and technical support, the Supervisor designs, implements, and monitors solutions and enhancements derived from the evaluation of CPI cases, focusing on child safety to achieve optimal outcomes for families.
The Supervisor serves as a subject matter expert, offering guidance and support to unit staff and stakeholders to enhance service delivery effectiveness.
The Supervisor holds accountability for critical decisions impacting child protection.Engagement with the area Program Director, regional and state management, caseworkers, and external stakeholders is essential to discuss complex, sensitive CPI cases and prioritize urgent reports.
This supervisory role is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring daily assessments and decision-making regarding child safety matters.
Regular on-call responsibilities are expected, with frequency and timing determined by regional needs, including weekends and holidays.The Supervisor ensures compliance with the Child Protective Services Handbook, Title III of the Texas Family Code, and Minimum Standards for child placing agencies.
Frequent interaction with clients, legal representatives, child advocacy organizations, medical professionals, educational staff, and all parties involved in investigations is a key aspect of this role.
Operates with limited supervision, allowing for significant initiative and independent judgment.Key Responsibilities:
Regular attendance and adherence to agency leave policies while performing additional assigned duties.
Directs and oversees case actions related to safety, risk, and permanency on a daily basis.Ensures timely engagement with all cases, with staff continuously evaluating child safety throughout investigations by reviewing documentation for accuracy.
Assesses unit performance through case evaluations, ensuring timely completion of safety assessments and referrals to community resources when necessary to mitigate risks to children.
Reviews cases proposed for closure in alignment with departmental policies and consults with leadership on unresolved safety concerns. (40%).Implements program protocols, manages administrative tasks for staff, and leads unit meetings.
The Supervisor reviews abuse/neglect intakes daily, providing case consultations to assess and address child safety and risk issues, ensuring timely family contact.
Oversees the accurate entry of time and leave into the Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS) and manages staff overtime.
Conducts training and monthly meetings to communicate essential updates on policies, address productivity trends, and foster team cohesion.
(25%).Responsible for interviewing, selecting, hiring, managing, and developing staff. Conducts field visits, reviews performance metrics, holds monthly discussions, trains, and completes performance evaluations.
Evaluates unit performance through case assessments and observations to ensure compliance with policies and service standards.
The Supervisor is dedicated to educating and developing competent staff capable of engaging and supporting families to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
Provides guidance on policies, procedures, best practices, and ongoing professional development support. (20%)
Consults with unit staff and interprets program policies for agency personnel, parents, children, caregivers, advocates, legal representatives, and the public.
Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality and efficiency in unit performance.
Represents the program at various meetings, conferences, and other relevant events. (10%)Performs additional duties as required to maintain unit operations. (5%)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with state and federal laws and regulations relevant to the INV/AR program.
