Job Title: Child Care Regulation Inspector III

Are you passionate about ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of children in Texas? Do you have a strong background in regulation and enforcement? We are seeking a highly skilled Child Care Regulation Inspector III to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services.


Job Summary:

The Child Care Regulation Inspector III will be responsible for monitoring and investigating child-care facilities throughout the State of Texas. This includes performing facility inspections, conducting investigations, providing training to child-care providers, and convening pre-application meetings for child-care facility applicants.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor licensed and registered child-care facilities to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Conduct investigations into complaints, incidents, and reports of minimum standards violations.
  • Evaluate new applications for child-care facilities to issue licenses and registrations.
  • Identify risk and recommend enforcement actions to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children in regulated child-care facilities.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to child-care providers on issues related to minimum standards.

Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Texas laws relating to regulation of childcare and child abuse/neglect.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to initiate and participate in enforcement of regulations concerning child-care facilities.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to de-escalate situations with tact and diplomacy.
