Position Overview:

PeaceHealth is in search of a Refund Specialist - Cash Posting for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The compensation for this role is competitive, with the salary range set at $28.14. The hiring rate will be influenced by various factors, including education, training, work experience, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough reviews of credit balance accounts across commercial, government, and regulatory payors to ensure accurate resolutions.
  • Process refund requests as necessary, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
  • Research and manage accounts for Provider Level Adjustments (PLB), applying necessary adjustments.
  • Identify trends related to claim payments, patient payments, and posting errors, escalating issues to supervisors when required.
  • Request rebills, adjustments, and corrections to effectively resolve credit balances.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from patients and insurance representatives.
  • Manage work lists and other assigned reports efficiently.
  • Ensure adherence to billing compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, cash posting, or insurance account follow-up is required.
  • Formal training or coursework from an accredited medical coding school in medical billing may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Experience with payer EOBs/835s and bank Lockbox processes is essential.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is required.
Preferred Credentials:
  • HealthStream Badge.
  • Medical Billing Certificate.
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Representative.
Skills:
  • Proficient in 10-key data entry.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of insurance and reimbursement policies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, particularly in processing and reconciling Provider Level Adjustments (PLB).
  • Knowledge of banking and Lockbox processes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • EPIC experience is preferred.

Working Conditions:
  • Primarily operates in an office environment.
  • May require lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally.
  • Involves sedentary work with close visual acuity for data analysis and computer use.
