Special Instructions for Applicants
Contra Costa Community College District is expanding its pool of adjunct faculty for the Applied Music course within the Music department.

We are particularly seeking candidates who specialize in Flute, Horn, and Trumpet instruction, with a proven track record in teaching and mentoring students in both individual and group settings.

Position Overview
Students enrolled in the Applied Music course are music majors who benefit from six hours of personalized instruction each semester. Lessons take place in the music facility on the campus, with weekly meetings arranged based on mutual availability.

Upon approval, adjunct faculty may also have the opportunity to teach additional courses within the Music department or serve as substitute instructors.

Key Responsibilities
Adjunct Faculty are expected to:
- Deliver instruction aligned with established curriculum and course outlines;
- Foster a learning environment that promotes open discussion and critical thinking;
- Assess student progress and provide feedback on academic performance;
- Hold meetings with students outside of scheduled classes;
- Uphold professional standards and ethical conduct;
- Stay current in their subject matter expertise;
- Fulfill the professional obligations of a part-time faculty member;
- Maintain accurate academic records;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Applicants should demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff, and faculty.

Minimum Qualifications
For the Music Discipline:
- Master's degree in music
Or
- Bachelor's degree in music AND Master's degree in humanities OR equivalent qualifications.

For the Commercial Music Discipline:
- Any bachelor's degree with two years of professional experience
Or
- Any associate's degree with six years of professional experience.
