Job Summary

Mid Michigan College is seeking a qualified Adjunct Psychology Instructor to teach psychology courses in an online, face-to-face, and/or dual enrollment environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for instruction, student assessment, and evaluation of a diverse student population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Instruction
    • Teach assigned psychology courses, including online, face-to-face, and dual enrollment classes.
    • Develop and update course syllabi, aligned with departmental objectives, for courses assigned.
    • Participate in the department's assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Student Support and Evaluation
    • Observe and assess student-learning competencies, providing timely feedback to students.
    • Maintain and report accurate classroom records, including grades, attendance, etc.
  • Collaboration and Professional Development
    • Work collaboratively with other departmental faculty on projects aimed at assessing and improving student learning.
    • Participate in adjunct faculty development opportunities.
    • Maintain regular communication with Library and Learning Services staff.
  • Departmental and College-Wide Responsibilities
    • Attend, facilitate, and/or lead departmental meetings and in-service programs within the department and college-wide.
    • Adhere to departmental objectives, policies, procedures, and standards; recommend changes to departmental procedures as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Education
    • Masters Degree in Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work, or
    • Masters Degree in another discipline with 18 graduate credits in Psychology or Counseling
  • Experience
    • Two years of teaching experience preferred, ideally at the community college level.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of course content and objectives for psychology course offerings.
    • Ability to develop and effectively deliver course content/objectives and facilitate an effective learning environment for students.
    • Knowledge of computer and educational technology, with the ability to integrate technology into the classroom.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a close, collaborative manner with other faculty and administration.
Working Environment

The job responsibilities of this position are performed in a classroom environment, requiring a professional image and demeanor, on-time attendance, and reliability. The environment has minimal discomfort due to heat, cold, or dust, with light noise present. There may be travel to other college locations for meetings, and job duties may be performed in an independent or team atmosphere.
