Position Overview:
The Lead Sterile Processing Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing all operations related to the procurement, processing, inventory, storage, and distribution of surgical supplies and equipment. This role entails a comprehensive 24-hour accountability for departmental functions, including personnel management and ensuring adherence to industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and coordinate activities within the Sterile Processing department, ensuring effective communication between various hospital departments.
  • Manage daily operations, including decontamination, sterilization, and supply management, while prioritizing departmental tasks.
  • Participate in the establishment of departmental goals and objectives, contributing to short-term planning and evaluations.
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of operating room case carts and instrument distribution.
  • Conduct staff management activities, including assignments, performance evaluations, and employee counseling.
  • Ensure proper requisitioning, sorting, labeling, and issuing of surgical supplies and equipment.
  • Monitor and document sterilization processes, maintaining compliance with established standards.
  • Analyze departmental needs and recommend new products, techniques, and services to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Facilitate staff training and education on sterile processing protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization logs and productivity metrics.

Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) is required.
  • Preferred certifications include Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) and Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS).
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required, with five years preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.

This position may involve exposure to high-stress situations, fluctuating workloads, and potential hazardous materials. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to perform under pressure while adhering to safety protocols.
