Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Paraprofessional to join our team at Fulton County Schools. The successful candidate will provide support to our instructional staff in a classroom setting, assisting with organization, management, and presentation of instructional materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in preparing educational materials for students, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Work individually with students and/or in small groups to reinforce learning objectives, promoting academic success and social growth.
  • Support daily routines, including distributing and collecting supplies, maintaining attendance records, and grading quizzes as assigned.
  • Participate in lunchroom, recess, and bus duties, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Assist with preparing and maintaining bulletin boards and learning centers, enhancing the overall learning experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administrators, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to excellence.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, with a strong emphasis on academic achievement.
  • Ability to obtain a Georgia PSC Paraprofessional Certificate within one year of hire.
  • 0-1 year of experience in a classroom setting, with a preference for those with experience working with children.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Classroom experience and/or proven ability to work with children, demonstrating a passion for education.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with students and adults.
  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written language of instruction, if working in a Dual Immersion program.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions quickly and accurately, with a focus on attention to detail.
  • Capacity to handle sensitive and confidential information, maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
Working Conditions
  • Classroom environment, with a focus on safety and inclusivity.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance, with a focus on physical stamina.
  • Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds, with a focus on physical strength.
  • May require lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, or crouching, with a focus on physical agility.
  • Requires ability to move and control an adult-sized wheelchair, with a focus on physical dexterity.
  • Typically sitting, standing, and walking, with a focus on physical endurance.
