Role: Recreation Support Specialist

Reporting To: Recreation Coordinator

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in delivering physical education, arts and crafts, performing arts, music, sports, activities of daily living (ADL), and other recreational programs.
  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of social and peer support events for clients.
  • Organize and co-facilitate community group activities.
  • Contribute to the design and creation of visual displays for public areas within the facility, reflecting cultural, seasonal, and programmatic themes.
  • Engage effectively with clients, CAMBA staff, community members, and funding partners.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment and supplies utilized.
  • Ensure proper usage of recreational facilities and equipment.
  • Monitor client progress towards their objectives and document findings through progress notes.
  • Promote the program to attract new clients.
  • Provide necessary information for various reporting periods, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of clients' situations and needs as required.
  • Assist in preparing marketing materials for the program.
  • Maintain client files and input data regarding client progress into an automated database.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. along with relevant experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must obtain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance, Staff Exclusion List (SEL) clearance, and undergo criminal history checks via fingerprinting prior to employment.
  • Ability to maintain necessary clearances throughout employment.

Compensation: $17.00 per hour
Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
