Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Coordinator to join our team at Women In Need, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and developing educational and recreational activities that support the cultural backgrounds of our families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement educational and recreational programs for children and families
  • Collaborate with community organizations and city programs to provide free or low-cost activities
  • Supervise Recreation Department staff and provide training
  • Complete performance evaluations and address recruitment and staff performance concerns
  • Interface with program staff to ensure program meets the needs of participating children
  • Organize special events for holiday celebrations reflecting cultural backgrounds of Win families
  • Monitor activity areas for damaged equipment and manage procurement of replacement equipment
  • Ensure safety of participating children and monitor daily attendance
  • Participate in case conferences and staff meetings related to recreational services
  • Maintain and secure inventory of supplies and equipment
  • Work closely with Maintenance Department staff to keep department areas clean and organized
  • Prepare and complete required documentation to support and track department activities and attendance

Requirements:

  • BA/BS Degree required
  • Two years of experience providing educational and recreational activities for children, plus one year of supervisory experience
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required
  • Must submit to medical screening to ensure good health by NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Bureau of Child Care
  • Good organizational, written, and verbal communication skills required
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus
