Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pathologist Assistant to join our team at McLaren Health Care. As a Pathologist Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our pathologists in the examination and diagnosis of surgical specimens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pathologists in the examination and description of surgical specimens, including gross dissection and preparation of tissues for processing.
  • Perform autopsy examinations, including external examination, in situ organ inspections, and evisceration dissection.
  • Obtain biological specimens for analysis and perform special procedures as directed.
  • Prepare reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies inventory and conserve laboratory resources.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from a Pathology Assistant Program or completion of a post-bachelor's program from an approved school of pathology.
  • Pathologist Assistant Certification or eligibility to take the certification exam and must be certified within 18 months of hire or transfer.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience assisting with gross description and dissection of surgical tissue.
