Job Summary

Michigan State University is seeking a skilled Laboratory Preparation Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and preserving human specimens for use in anatomy laboratory classes and programs. This role will also involve collaborating with faculty in the planning of anatomical materials needed for the Division, overseeing the procurement of anatomical material, and maintaining and managing the gross anatomy laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

Independently embalm and prepare human anatomical specimens for academic curriculum
Use specialized preparation techniques such as latex injection as needed
Place appropriate teaching material in the laboratory as requested by faculty for course specific instructional needs
Routinely maintain specimens, including rehydration, mold removal and storage needs
Prepare anatomical material for cremation
Assist with the transfer of donors to/from the MSU anatomy laboratories and other institutions
Coordinate with MSU anatomy laboratory sites to ensure embalming coverage needs are met

Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Medical Technology or Microbiology
One to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in microbiology, chemistry and aseptic techniques
Equivalent combination of education and experience
