Job Summary:

As a Radiologic Technologist at Henry Ford Health System, you will play a critical role in the evaluation of pathological entities by performing radiologic procedures under the direction of a Radiologist. Your expertise will be utilized to determine appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices to ensure high-quality diagnostic information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for the examination, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Review clinical data on requisitions and perform appropriate examinations, obtaining additional information as necessary.
  • Prepare procedure rooms and maintain stock levels of linen and related supplies.
  • Analyze anatomical structures, set up equipment, and perform radiologic procedures, manually controlling equipment to obtain optimal diagnostic information.
  • Select and administer intravenous contrast media, monitoring patients for possible reactions and providing immediate care if necessary.
  • Perform imaging procedures while adhering to radiation protection principles, including shielding patients and selecting appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose.
  • Prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for procedures, following department infection control practices and techniques.
  • Complete necessary work sheets, logs, patient records, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Assume teaching and educational responsibilities for new hires and students, maintaining own responsibilities and duties.
  • Resolve image exceptions and ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS, confirming image and series counts.
  • Complete study indexing in the Radiology Information System, reviewing and confirming clinical protocols as necessary.
  • Demonstrate Team member standards of excellence, including AIDET, open communication, and a positive attitude.
  • Perform documentation in medical records and the radiology information system to support clinical and billing functions.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • Maintain required hours of continued education.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or registry eligible, with registry obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Healthcare Provider certification required (BCLS).
