Senior CAD Technician

Your Role and Contributions

In the capacity of Senior CAD Technician, you will collaborate closely with our design teams to enhance civil site design services across a diverse range of transportation initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity for the right individual to elevate their career based on their expertise, dedication, and ambition. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective teamwork and the establishment of group-wide design standards. You will also have the chance to mentor and guide staff in CAD methodologies and best practices. We anticipate that approximately 70% of your responsibilities will involve CAD management, with the remaining 30% dedicated to supporting design teams in producing design documents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee, develop, and manage all CAD-related tasks and challenges specific to the Transportation Design Group.
  • Lead initiatives to refine CAD processes and workflows, aiming to boost efficiency and consistency.
  • Supervise the adoption of CAD process improvements in collaboration with design teams.
  • Manage CAD software configurations and templates to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Create and implement a CAD training program for onboarding new hires.
  • Develop ongoing training programs for current employees to enhance their CAD skills.
  • Collaborate with the internal IT department to troubleshoot and resolve CAD software issues.
  • Engage with external stakeholders (clients, vendors, consultants) to coordinate project-specific CAD tasks and address any arising challenges.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience utilizing computer-aided drafting software.
  • Expertise in Bentley Systems, Inc. software products such as ProjectWise, OpenRoads Designer, and MicroStation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint, OneNote, etc.).
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of CAD standards, techniques, and best practices, along with a solid foundation in mathematics and engineering principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with a keen attention to detail.
  • A collaborative team player with a positive outlook.
  • Aptitude for coaching others on industry best practices in CAD.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and software.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience in CAD management.
  • CAD Certification.
  • Completion of a two-year technical program in survey or civil technology.
  • Basic knowledge of Bentley Systems, Inc. software products GEOPAK and InRoads.
  • Familiarity with AutoDesk, Inc. software products such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit.
  • Basic proficiency in ESRI, Inc. ArcGIS software.
