Cyber Security Internship Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated postgraduate college student to join our Cyber Security team as an intern. The intern will work with our experienced Cyber Security professionals and gain hands-on experience in protecting the organization's information systems and data from cyber-attacks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in collecting and analyzing event information and performing threat analysis duties.
- Assist in assigning an initial priority and an associated tracking number to new events and cyber requests.
- Assist in facilitating and expediting the tracking, handling, and reporting of all security events and incidents in accordance with departmental policies.
- Assist in conducting Cyber Security assessment and risk management activities.
- Assist with vulnerability assessments and penetration testing for specific applications, services, networks, and servers as required.
- Assist in recording and tracking IT security incidents, including but not limited to compromised accounts, e-mail threats, and abuse reports from various sources.
- Assist in facilitating the Department's Cyber Security Awareness Training program.
- Assist with researching and evaluating emerging Cyber Security technologies.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university with taking classes towards a Computer Science or Computer Security related field.
- None.
- Must possess a valid driver license from state of residence.
- Must possess a working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State, and Federal regulations, legislations, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy, and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers.
- Must be organized, flexible, and able to effectively prioritize in a multi-demand and constantly changing environment; able to meet multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines without sacrificing accuracy, timeliness, or professionalism.
- Must be able to construct and deliver clear, concise, and professional presentations to a variety of audiences and/or individuals.
- Must demonstrate ability to quickly and efficiently access relevant information, and be able to utilize and/or present research and conclusions in a clear and concise manner.
- Must demonstrate an ability to examine data/information, discern variations/similarities, and be able to identify trends, relationships, and causal factors, as well as grasp issues, draw accurate conclusions, and solve problems.
- Must possess appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems and be able to learn new software/systems.
- Must demonstrate an ability to responsibly handle sensitive and confidential information and situations, and adhere to applicable laws/statutes/policies related to access, maintenance, and dissemination of information.
Schedule: Part time 20 hours per week.
