Job Title: IT Systems Engineer I

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Systems Engineer I to join our team at National Guard Employment Network. As a key member of our IT department, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and supporting our IT systems and infrastructure.

Job Summary:

The IT Systems Engineer I position is responsible for providing technical expertise and support for our IT systems and infrastructure. This includes designing, implementing, and maintaining our network, cloud, and non-cloud systems, as well as providing technical assistance to our IT teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain our IT systems and infrastructure, including network, cloud, and non-cloud systems.
  • Provide technical assistance to our IT teams and stakeholders, including project managers and business partners.
  • Assist with writing system specifications, logical and physical architecture diagrams, and implementation plans.
  • Deliver practical, efficient, and cost-effective solutions that satisfy business needs, including hands-on configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Work closely with others to assist development of future plans, resource requirements, migration strategies, and project schedules.
  • Provide input into presentations to Engineering and Architecture Review Boards.
  • Understand the current technologies and service offerings within the industry.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, computer networking, or related field.
  • 4 years of experience in IT infrastructure design, application design, cloud computing, disaster/recovery, or related field.
  • Experience with system administration, drafting technical documentation, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and apply skillset beyond the day-to-day operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technical resources and collaborate to solve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical information in non-technical terminology (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated strong teamwork skills with self-motivation in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry trends.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications such as NERC-CIP, FERC, AZ900.
  • Deeper understanding of programming languages, and an ability to solve engineering problems of increasing difficulty.
  • Shows initiative beyond pure implementation.
  • Experience building highly scalable applications.
  • Experience participating in operational readiness activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and apply skillset beyond the day-to-day operations.
  • Experience developing and implementing new technologies or platforms.
  • Proficient understanding project management principles and framework.
  • Experience with Unix system administration, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Solaris, and scripting languages such as Bourne shell, Perl, Python, Java, and Ansible.

  • Annual salary will vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $84,000-$126,000.
