Job Title: IT Systems Engineer I

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Systems Engineer I to join our team at Exelon Services, Inc. This role will serve as the foundation for more senior roles within the IT department and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting IT solutions.

Job Summary

The IT Systems Engineer I will work closely with other IT teams, leadership, and business partners to identify system requirements, design and implement solutions, and provide technical expertise and support. This role requires a strong understanding of information technology, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in discussions with business partners and vendors to gather information and assist with supporting leadership, architecture, project teams, and end users to identify system requirements.
  • Assist with writing system specifications, logical and physical architecture diagrams, and implementation plans.
  • Deliver practical, efficient, and cost-effective solutions that satisfy business needs, including hands-on configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Work closely with others to assist development of future plans, resource requirements, migration strategies, and project schedules.
  • Provide input into presentations to Engineering and Architecture Review Boards.
  • Understand the current technologies and service offerings within the industry.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, computer networking, or a related field.
  • 4 years of experience in IT infrastructure design, application design, cloud computing, disaster/recovery, or 3-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with system administration, drafting technical documentation, and demonstrated ability to think and apply skillset beyond the day-to-day operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technical resources and collaborate to solve problems, effectively communicate technical information in non-technical terminology, and demonstrated strong teamwork skills with self-motivation in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry trends and basic knowledge of financial impact analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications such as NERC-CIP, FERC, AZ900.
  • Deeper understanding of programming languages and an ability to solve engineering problems of increasing difficulty.
  • Shows initiative beyond pure implementation.
  • Experience building highly scalable applications, participating in operational readiness activities, and developing and implementing new technologies or platforms.
  • Proficient understanding of project management principles and framework.
  • Experience with Unix system administration, scripting, and automation.
