About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Crisis Intervention Specialist to join our team at Northern Rivers Family of Services. As a Crisis Intervention Specialist, you will provide in-home services to families and youth in crisis, supporting them in implementing behavior management techniques and crisis de-escalation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to the needs of families in crisis and deliver crisis intervention services in a home-based environment.
  • Promote the safety of the child, family, and community in the delivery of crisis intervention services.
  • Tailor services and schedule sessions based on family member's needs.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of family strengths, values, skills, problems, needs, barriers to goal attainment, and collaborate in goal setting and service planning.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods to help family members acquire, maintain, and generalize skills.
  • Advocate for and provide concrete services and supports, and teach family members to meet their concrete needs.
  • Collaborate and advocate with formal and informal community resources and systems that impact the family, while teaching family members to advocate for themselves.
  • Prepare families for transition and service closure.
  • Provide consultation to intra-agency service providers and to community service providers.
  • Maintain appropriate liaisons and relationships with external and internal providers, particularly as it relates to County Mental Health Departments working with the Crisis Intervention team.
  • Fulfill all program-reporting requirements.
  • Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement process and provide leadership in the collection of data and the formulation of recommendations and conclusions as assigned.

Requirements and Education:

Bachelor's degree in human services, or Master's degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling, and at least two years of experience in a home-based and/or crisis intervention services program. LMSW or LMHC licensure preferred. Experience in the Homebuilder model of crisis intervention is preferred. Must have a valid NYS driver's license.
