Job Summary

The Paraprofessional - Behavior Support is a critical role at YAI/iHOPE, where we strive to provide comprehensive services for students with complex needs. As a member of our team, you will play a vital part in supporting students with Traumatic Brain Injury, Acquired Brain Injury, and other brain-based disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist assigned students in achieving their academic and therapeutic goals, working closely with teachers, therapists, and related service teams.
  • Implement individualized IEPs and behavior plans, ensuring the student's safety and well-being.
  • Provide support for daily therapy and related service sessions, including transferring and positioning students as needed.
  • Assist with self-care activities, such as using the restroom, basic hygiene, and feeding.
  • Follow all policies and procedures related to student care and safety.
  • Ensure students' supplies and personal items are kept neat and clean throughout the day.
  • Meet students' specific management needs, including feeding and maintaining student safety.
  • Perform all related work as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities for Students with Complex Behavioral Needs
  • Liaise with the behavior department to support creation and implementation of behavior plans.
  • Collect and record data to ensure fidelity of behavior plans.
  • Attend and participate in behavior-specific trainings and meetings as determined by supervisors and Behavior Specialists.
  • Respond timely and appropriately to challenging and/or self-injurious behavior, ensuring the health and safety of students, self, and others.
Requirements
  • High school Diploma/GED or equivalent required.
  • Associates Degree or coursework in education preferred.
  • One to three years of relevant healthcare, childcare, and/or other school-based experience preferred.
  • First Aid CPR AED preferred.

  • Must be well-organized with superior attention to detail and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Able to work with a great degree of independence and focus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs.

Compensation Range
  • $18.31 to $21.41 per hour.
