Position: Community Engagement Specialist
The Community Engagement Specialist role involves conducting outreach, education, and testing services for marginalized communities within the LGBTQ+ space. The focus is on providing support to Women who have Sex with Women, Young Men who have Sex with Men, and Transgender, Gender Non-Conforming, and Non-Binary individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Culturally Competent Outreach and Education: Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage with marginalized communities, providing education and support services.
- Offer HIV and HCV Testing and Counseling: Provide HIV and HCV testing and counseling services to individuals, ensuring they receive accurate information and support.
- Develop Tailored Educational Materials: Create educational materials that cater to the needs of diverse communities, promoting health and wellness.
- Participate in Community Events and Workshops: Engage with community members through events and workshops, promoting In Our Own Voices, Inc.'s mission and services.
- Build Relationships with Partners and Local Businesses: Foster partnerships with local businesses and organizations, ensuring In Our Own Voices, Inc.'s services are accessible to all.
- Ensure Clients are Linked to Care Services: Connect clients with necessary care services, ensuring they receive comprehensive support.
- Maintain Accurate Records of Activities and Interactions: Document all activities and interactions, ensuring data is accurate and up-to-date.
- Collaborate with Team Members and Stakeholders: Work closely with team members and stakeholders to achieve In Our Own Voices, Inc.'s goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
- Experience Working with TGNCNB Communities: Possess experience working with Transgender, Gender Non-Conforming, and Non-Binary individuals, understanding their unique needs.
- Background in the HIV Field: Have a background in the HIV field, ensuring a deep understanding of HIV and HCV testing and counseling.
- Human Services Experience: Possess experience in human services, ensuring a strong understanding of support services and community engagement.
- Bilingualism is a Plus: Bilingualism is highly desirable, ensuring In Our Own Voices, Inc.'s services are accessible to diverse communities.
- Comfortable with Public Outreach: Be comfortable with public outreach, engaging with community members in various settings.
