The Wakefield facility is among the largest production sites within Michael Foods, functioning as a flexible plant capable of producing a wide range of products, from whole pasteurized eggs to liquid, dried, hardboiled eggs, and curds.

Position Overview:
The Vat Room Operator plays a crucial role in the production process, responsible for verifying raw materials, mixing products, and collecting samples for quality assurance testing. This position requires accurate documentation and reporting of data, along with loading and unloading tankers to ensure the efficient operation of machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct moisture testing as instructed and keep the dryer operator updated on any changes.
  • Collect product samples for moisture, chemical analysis, and microbiological testing.
  • Operate and supervise densifier machinery.
  • Utilize forklifts and pallet jacks for material handling.
  • Verify and confirm the final weights of finished products.
  • Ensure proper sealing and labeling of product containers.
  • Organize finished products on pallets.
  • Assist the dryer operator with sanitation tasks.
  • Collaborate with the dryer operator to maintain appropriate moisture levels in finished goods.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation, including moisture charts and equipment checks.
  • Perform minor equipment adjustments and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Ensure cleanliness in all production packaging areas.
  • Support sanitation efforts in warehouse and rack areas.
  • Execute standard procedures for solids, color, and pH testing.
  • Complete batch records accurately.
  • Verify mixing procedures and ingredient specifications.
  • Understand USDA loading and unloading protocols for tankers.
  • Familiarize with the OvaMay system for operational procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of equipment assembly and operation.
  • Monitor and check pasteurization temperatures.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Follow safe work practices and maintain sanitary conditions.
  • Be available for weekend, holiday, and overtime work as required.
  • Uphold a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in loading and unloading trailers is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
  • Forklift and pallet jack certification is required.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting safety and operational documents.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Mathematical skills for basic calculations are required.
  • Problem-solving skills in varied situations are essential.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are important.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs safely.
  • Capacity to work independently or collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to seek guidance when needed.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in the work environment.
  • Ability to work in diverse conditions, including cold and humid environments.
  • Good hand-eye coordination is required.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform various physical tasks.
