Position Summary

The **Lead Automation Engineer** is tasked with the design, development, and implementation of automation and control systems that enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and safety across the organization.

This role is pivotal in overseeing the transition from project execution to operational readiness, ultimately taking ownership of the Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS) and its associated components. The Lead Automation Engineer serves as the technical authority in this field, responsible for the establishment of management systems within the operational excellence framework.

The ideal candidate will spearhead initiatives to upgrade existing systems or deploy new automation solutions, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and industry best practices. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to define requirements, develop innovative solutions, and ensure the successful execution of automation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion the implementation of corporate policies and procedures related to safety, health, environmental standards, and operational planning.
  • Foster an integrated approach to project and asset management for optimal outcomes.
  • Ensure the technical coordination of projects to facilitate successful execution.
  • Engage closely with stakeholders to guarantee project success.
  • Provide engineering design, construction support, and startup assistance for various projects.
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of operational technologies and systems.
  • Support planning and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure adherence to Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change protocols.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance existing automation systems for improved efficiency and safety.
  • Offer technical leadership and mentorship to team members.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States is required.

Experience

  • Over 10 years of experience in designing and implementing automation systems, with a strong focus on project and asset management.
  • Experience in Alaska is preferred.
  • Proficient in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, industrial networking, and control system design.
  • Expertise in Emerson Delta V systems is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and team-building abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
