We are seeking an experienced professional to join our Irwin Engineers business as a Staff Industrial Hygienist and contribute to our EHS team on a full-time, direct basis while based at our office in Natick, MA.
Primary Responsibilities:- Contribute to hygiene projects associated with asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, and indoor air quality.
- Perform oversight of asbestos abatement projects, including environmental building surveys and report writing.
- Prepare reports including observations, analysis of contaminants, and recommendations for control/correction of hazards.
- Contribute to industrial hygiene projects for evaluation and control of workplace chemical exposures as well as proper utilization of personal protective equipment.
- Work independently on assigned projects in Boston and the surrounding areas, which may require working during evenings and/or weekends when necessary.
- Associate's degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Environmental Science, Engineering, EHS, Safety Management, etc.).
- At least 3 years of professional experience working with EHS-related tasks (preferably with Industrial Hygiene and/or Environmental Remediation).
- Accredited Asbestos credential(s) in MA (i.e., Massachusetts Asbestos Building Inspector, Project Monitor, and Project Designer).
- This person may be expected to work in the field, so they will be required to possess a Valid Driver's License and Reliable Transportation.
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline is a plus.
- Additional credential (e.g., EPA Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor, etc.) is a plus.
- Proven expertise with OSHA regulations, especially with air sampling methodologies.
- Experience working in construction.
- Proficiency with basic computer systems and software, including MS-Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Proven ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills, especially when working on a variety of projects while providing solutions to difficult issues.
- Proven ability to work independently or in a team environment while demonstrating strong character and dependability.
- Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in an energetic and challenging work environment on a variety of projects.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
