How You Will Contribute?

This role is essential in supporting the accounting management team in strategizing, organizing, and executing the daily operations of the fixed asset accounting function within Finance. The aim is to ensure the accurate development, maintenance, and reporting of financial data in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Your Key Responsibilities:

The following tasks are integral to this position. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary:
  • Engage with various departments to ensure accurate processing of invoices or entries related to construction in progress (CIP) or asset clearing accounts.
  • Work alongside project leaders to determine when CIP projects are ready for service activation.
  • Coordinate with FP&A to confirm that all necessary approvals are in place to support capital expenditures.
  • Collaborate with IT to identify and classify internal labor for capitalization or deferral concerning capital projects or cloud computing solutions.
  • Partner with the Tax Department to ensure the automated use tax process (Vertex) is executed successfully on a monthly basis.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) in all matters related to property, plant, and equipment (PP&E).
  • Conduct monthly routines in the Oracle fixed asset module, including capitalization, depreciation, impairment, and retirement of fixed assets.
  • Perform monthly analysis and review of surgical instruments capitalized through automated processes.
  • Prepare schedules, analyses, and work papers for routine audits and special requests.
  • Manage monthly roll-forward and reconciliation of PP&E accounts.
  • Oversee monthly close processes and related journal entries.
  • Ensure financial reporting adheres to GAAP standards.
  • Provide management reporting that includes fluctuation analysis of PP&E.
  • Offer data and insights to assist FP&A in budgeting and forecasting depreciation.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:

The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position:

Education/Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
Experience, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • At least 3 years of experience in general accounting.
  • A minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience with fixed assets.
  • Experience with Oracle R12 is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Possess a proactive attitude with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across functions and provide financial guidance related to PP&E.
  • Capable of working independently and following through on responsibilities.
  • Embrace a continuous improvement mindset.
