How You Will Contribute:

This role plays a crucial part in supporting the accounting management in the planning, organization, and execution of daily activities within the fixed asset accounting sector of Finance. The objective is to ensure the accurate development, maintenance, and reporting of financial data in alignment with generally accepted accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborating with various teams to ensure accurate processing of invoices or entries related to construction in progress (CIP) or asset clearing accounts.
  • Working alongside project leaders to determine when CIP projects are ready for service activation.
  • Engaging with FP&A to confirm that necessary approvals are in place to support capital expenditures.
  • Partnering with IT to identify and classify internal labor for capitalization or deferral concerning capital projects or cloud computing solutions.
  • Cooperating with the Tax Department to ensure the automated use tax process is executed effectively on a monthly basis.
  • Serving as the subject matter expert (SME) in all matters related to property, plant, and equipment (PP&E).
  • Executing monthly routines in the Oracle fixed asset module, including capitalization, depreciation, impairment, and retirement of fixed assets.
  • Conducting monthly analysis and review of capitalized surgical instruments through automated processes.
  • Preparing schedules, analyses, and work papers for routine audits and special requirements.
  • Performing monthly roll-forward and reconciliation of PP&E accounts.
  • Managing monthly close processes and associated journal entries.
  • Ensuring financial reporting complies with GAAP standards.
  • Delivering management reports that include fluctuation analysis of PP&E.
  • Providing data and insights to assist FP&A in budgeting and forecasting depreciation.
  • Executing other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:

The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position.

Education/Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
Experience, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in general accounting.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with fixed assets.
  • Experience with Oracle R12 is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • A proactive attitude complemented by strong communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across functions and provide financial guidance regarding PP&E.
  • Capability to work independently and follow through on responsibilities.
  • A mindset focused on continuous improvement.
