About the Role

Factory Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a highly skilled Chemical Engineer Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our risk management team, you will be responsible for identifying and mitigating property hazards at insured client facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop practical solutions to minimize or eliminate them.
  • Communicate key risks and priorities to clients, providing sound risk management advice based on their business needs.
  • Apply consistent risk assessment and mitigation guidance, leveraging FM Property Loss Prevention Data Sheets and company operating procedures.
  • Prepare technical engineering reports, documenting conclusions and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with various departments to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop long-lasting relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor and consultant within your field.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (varies engineering disciplines considered); a chemical engineering background is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in heavy industry, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on understanding of various chemical and mechanical production processes and support systems.
  • Experience in process safety practices and safety devices.
  • Independent and focused within a home office environment, with strong planning and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills, geared towards a consulting role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • A valid driver's license is required, a company car is provided.
