Job Title: Residential Assistant

Join our team at the National Center for Children & Families as a Residential Assistant, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of our residents.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Residential Assistant. In this role, you will be responsible for providing support and supervision to residents, ensuring their compliance with program rules and policies, and providing crisis intervention as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support and supervision to residents, promoting their overall safety and well-being.
  • Complete exit processes with residents, ensuring a smooth transition to their next steps.
  • Assist residents with daily living skills, including hands-on life skills training.
  • Work collaboratively with the case management team to implement resident case plans.
  • Provide crisis intervention as required, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.
  • Monitor resident progress in daily living skills, providing feedback and support as needed.
  • Supervise residents' adherence to rules and daily shelter routine, promoting a safe and respectful living environment.
  • Support and plan family recreational activities, promoting socialization and community building.
  • Distribute medication as needed, monitoring medication compliance and reporting any concerns.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation, including program logs and weekly progress reports.
  • Write work orders for needed repairs, ensuring the maintenance of our facilities.
  • Conduct regular building inspections and apartment searches, promoting a safe and clean living environment.
  • Conduct fire evacuation drills, ensuring resident preparedness and safety.
  • Retrieve, distribute, and forward program and resident mail, promoting communication and connection.
  • Monitor internal and external facility appearance, ensuring a welcoming and respectful environment.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of relevant residential experience.
  • A valid driver's license, auto insurance, and a clean driving record.
  • Exceptional teamwork orientation, with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstration of cross-cultural competencies.
  • Attitude compatible with the goals and purposes of NCCF.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:

This role requires the ability to talk and hear, with frequent sitting and use of hands and fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Close vision is required for working with a computer monitor. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles, with a moderate noise level in the work environment.
