Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced County Administrator to lead our organization's strategic direction and operational excellence. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our departments, providing guidance and support to our staff, and ensuring that our organization is running efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to our departments, ensuring alignment with our organizational goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Supervise and direct the work of our department heads, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful execution of their responsibilities.
  • Review and approve budget and personnel-related proposals, ensuring that our organization is operating within its means and that our staff are equipped to meet the needs of our community.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including elected officials, community leaders, and other organizations.
  • Serve as a liaison to our Board of Commissioners, providing regular updates and recommendations on key issues and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as required, including special projects and tasks as assigned by our leadership team.
Requirements
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of progressive experience in an executive or senior administrative position, preferably in public administration.
  • Exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate our staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to meetings and events as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Sound management skills, with thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration.
  • Ability to speak in public and present to large groups.
  • Ability to work on conceptual design and policy development on a team.
  • Knowledge of County of Chester policies and procedures, as well as roles and interactions of local, state, and federal government.
  • Understanding of national, state, and county legislative roles and interactions.
