Job Title: Senior Installation Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Installation Engineer to join our team at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT). As a trusted systems integrator for over 50 years, GDIT provides information technology, cybersecurity, systems engineering, software development, training solutions, and professional services to customers in the Navy and the broader Department of Defense.

Job Summary:

The Senior Installation Engineer will be responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team to provide engineering planning, design, integration, installation, and test of Aegis Combat Systems (ACS) onboard ships post-construction and during maintenance availabilities. This senior position will be tied to both Program Management and Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor equipment installation and manage installation and cable design change documentation
  • Liaison between shipbuilder and Combat System Executive Agent for equipment installation issues and problem resolution
  • Work with Aegis Test Teams to resolve equipment and cable installation issues. Identify lessons learned
  • Resolve fiber optic repair issues and work with Cable Technicians to facilitate repair and test of fiber optic cables
  • Ensure all installation deficiency issues are identified and documented
  • Assist shipyard in resolution of equipment installation issues
  • Liaison with Government shock team to identify and resolve shock related issues
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor of Arts or Science (BA/BS) in the relevant field and 10+ years of experience as a Design Engineer/Integrator for large ships (or 15+ years of experience without a degree)
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of the larger GDIT Navy and Marine Corps Sector
  • A US DoD Secret security clearance is required
  • US Citizenship is required
