Overview

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced International Operations Manager with expertise in all aspects of global logistics, including air and ocean freight, as well as warehouse management. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive mindset and a commitment to excellence, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, work autonomously, and collaborate effectively within a team. Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills are essential for successful interactions with both internal and external stakeholders worldwide.

Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee the maintenance of internal operational databases to ensure adherence to international partner standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for international partners.
  • Participate in the monthly evaluation of international partners for compliance and performance metrics.
  • Manage all international inquiries, ensuring efficient handling of shipments, communication, and problem resolution.
  • Assist in obtaining and negotiating international quotes from partner offices and agents, ensuring prompt responses to correspondence.
  • Ensure accurate preparation of shipment quotes, routing, documentation, rate negotiations, tracking, and billing across air, ocean, and domestic shipments.
  • Support sales teams and global partners with import and export challenges related to air and ocean freight.
  • Possess knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Importer Security Filing (ISF), Schedule B, and Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) determinations.
  • Collaborate with branch managers, international operations teams, account executives, customers, overseas agents, vendors, and senior management.
  • Understand the various processes involved in U.S. ports of export and entry.
  • Prepare import and export documentation as required.
  • Assist in the accurate preparation of international shipping documents, including Master Bill of Lading (MBL) and House Bill of Lading (HBL) for both ocean and air freight.
  • Facilitate the expediting of airfreight and ocean shipments to and from U.S. locations.
  • Provide general office and operational support as needed.
  • Serve as a trainer for international operations staff.
  • Manage warehouse operations effectively.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in freight forwarding with a solid employment record.
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in both domestic and international freight forwarding.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience.
  • Strong attendance record and a reliable work ethic.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
  • Self-motivated individual with a high level of initiative.
  • At least 5 years of experience in international operations and freight forwarding.
  • Experience in customer relations and relationship management.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with strong problem-solving and negotiation abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels.
