Overview

The Chief Culinary Officer is tasked with spearheading the Culinary Division at Lakeview Farms. This role involves contributing to the Research & Development Strategy, formulating the culinary vision, and establishing all essential Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The individual will supervise all Chefs and Culinary Personnel, guiding the culinary innovation journey, crafting new 'Gold Standard' recipes, enhancing existing offerings, and ensuring compliance with all brand standards for taste, as well as Food Safety and Quality protocols. Collaboration with product development teams, marketing, and quality assurance is vital to align culinary innovations with market dynamics and consumer desires. The Chief Culinary Officer and their team will engage extensively in the innovation process, culinary explorations, and brainstorming sessions. Furthermore, they will take part in executive and customer presentations, showcasing our products at various industry gatherings and trade exhibitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulation of the Culinary vision and all departmental SOPs
  • Leading, nurturing, and mentoring a team of 2-4 Chefs (some operating remotely)
  • Building strong customer relationships across diverse channels and categories
  • Collaborating with the product development team to transition products from culinary ideation to R&D execution while understanding operational capabilities.
  • Sharing insights on food, menu, and flavor trends within the industry
  • Promoting a 'food first' culture.
  • Participating in, assisting, and/or leading segments of the innovation process including Culinary Explorations, Innovation Sprints, and Ideation sessions.
  • Owning the public presentation of our products during customer showcases or industry events.
  • Driving customer-centric development by generating innovative food product concepts. Collaborating closely with Sales and Marketing teams to effectively present innovative offerings to clients.
  • Conducting and documenting sensory evaluations of products.
  • Maintaining records of formulas, ingredients, and finished products
  • Staying informed on product trends to design relevant innovative offerings.
  • Leading the planning and reporting of culinary explorations.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior developers and culinary team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree or Culinary qualification
  • Over 15 years of experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Culinary
  • High adaptability and eagerness to learn
  • Demonstrated success in leading a Culinary department
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Capability to taste and evaluate foods, identifying and articulating attributes and defects in appearance, texture, flavor, and aroma
  • Experience in formulating refrigerated products is advantageous
  • Willingness to learn and share knowledge
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Respect for the confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Proficient in computer skills (Microsoft Office, Genesis, and Navision are beneficial)
