Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a qualified Senior Cost Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to deliver estimating, benchmarking, and commercial management services for a major data center construction initiative.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain essential relationships with clients, stakeholders, and other consultants.
  • Formulate cost plans and project capital estimates throughout the design phase, ensuring timely updates at critical milestones.
  • Compile cost reports and estimate packages, presenting findings to stakeholders regularly.
  • Provide commercial insights during design optioneering and contribute to value engineering efforts.
  • Oversee cost assessments and conduct valuations on larger projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Present the final cost plan to clients, general contractors, and project teams, ensuring clarity and alignment.
  • Review pricing from contractors and subcontractors, leading negotiations to secure fair contract terms.
  • Monitor margin levels and monthly fee/resource forecasts across all commissions.
  • Guide the commercial evaluation of competitive bidding processes for major trades.
  • Integrate benchmarking to ensure precise data collection.
  • Engage with general contractors and project managers to gather status updates for cost estimate revisions.
  • Draft comprehensive feedback on contractor submissions, including executive summaries, and coordinate all cost information sources.
  • Drive engineering priorities based on cost implications.
  • Work independently to address scheduling challenges effectively.
  • Manage knowledge by inputting key insights and learnings into internal databases.
  • Identify and implement improvements to internal systems and processes.
  • Utilize provided tools for financial management, tracking ongoing margins and forecasts.
  • Collaborate with design services teams and general contractors to develop accurate cost estimates.
  • Reconcile changes during the planning phase, assisting general contractors in maintaining data accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and participate in ISO audits.
  • Effectively manage line responsibilities.
  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities with existing and potential clients.
  • Lead proposals for new work or variations on current projects.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in estimating, particularly in mission-critical, pharmaceutical, industrial, or life sciences sectors.
  • Strong preference for candidates with data center construction experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop estimates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Confidence in reviewing Mechanical and/or Electrical Subcontract packages.
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field, along with relevant field experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills, thriving in client-facing roles.
  • Technical knowledge of construction industry practices, including value management and engineering.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to tailor communication to diverse audiences.
