Position Summary

As a Manufacturing Cost Estimator, you will be responsible for generating precise and comprehensive estimates for projects within our job shop setting. Each day presents unique challenges as we rarely produce the same components multiple times. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the capability to collaborate effectively with various teams.

This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals with fabrication experience looking to transition from the production floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze drawings, blueprints, and other documentation related to fabrication and machining processes.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate material take-offs.
  • Estimate costs associated with materials, labor, equipment, and delivery to create thorough estimates.
  • Obtain vendor and subcontractor quotes as necessary to finalize estimates.
  • Process jobs and establish shop routings.
  • Procure materials and components for projects.
  • Maintain and nurture relationships with outsourced manufacturing partners to meet specific production requirements.
  • Support projects through to completion, collaborating with production and project management to resolve issues, manage change orders, and adjust timelines.
  • Post-project, evaluate estimates against actual costs to identify discrepancies and enhance the quoting process.
  • Assist with order setup and other assigned tasks.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a job shop manufacturing or machining environment.
  • Prior experience in fabrication and welding is essential.
  • Familiarity with JobBoss software is a significant advantage.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
