Position Overview:

This role is essential for executing critical follow-up and case management services for newborns and infants who have received abnormal screening test outcomes. The primary goal is to ensure early identification, diagnosis, and treatment for newborns with hearing impairments. Responsibilities include evaluating laboratory test results, hospital hearing screening outcomes, and diagnostic audiology findings, while meticulously documenting all actions within the laboratory management information system. Additionally, this position involves coordinating follow-up efforts among physicians, hospitals, parents, and testing facilities to guarantee timely and appropriate care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct prompt follow-up and case management for newborns with abnormal hearing screening results.
  • Analyze results to determine necessary follow-up actions.
  • Facilitate coordination among healthcare providers, hospitals, parents, and testing centers to ensure timely services.
  • Document all actions in the relevant patient records and laboratory management databases to maintain accurate continuous documentation.
  • Prepare reports as required.
  • Engage in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives, including project planning and protocol reviews to enhance program operations.
  • Develop effective monitoring and evaluation procedures for new and ongoing disorders to ensure program integrity.
  • Participate in partner meetings, follow-up team discussions, and training sessions to promote best practices in newborn screening.
  • Assist with dried blood spot screening follow-up.
  • Provide customer service to healthcare professionals, parents, and external partners regarding newborn screening outcomes.
  • Support newborn screening educational events at healthcare facilities as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned related to the position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Applicants should possess knowledge of medical terminology, genetics, database management, and laboratory or audiological testing procedures. Skills in written and verbal communication, organization, and analysis of test results are essential. The ability to interact effectively with medical professionals and the public, as well as to work collaboratively in a team environment, is crucial.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in a health-related field is required, with preference given to candidates who have experience in social services or healthcare-related case management.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

A valid driver's license is required for this position.
