Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payment Specialist I to join our team at AFCO Insurance Premium Finance. As a Payment Specialist I, you will be responsible for processing account receivables, resolving payment discrepancies, and ensuring accuracy of account adjustments and outgoing payments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, research, and deposit loan payments received by mail, wire, or ACH, including rejected payments from the lockbox and online payment facility.
  • Reconcile unidentified payments by contacting customers for payment information.
  • Post non-sufficient funds (NSF) returns on accounts and contact remitters and agents to obtain good funds.
  • Process manual check and ACH Origination requests by reviewing and validating proper backup and approvals.
  • Review for accuracy and post account adjustment transactions submitted from other departments.
  • Reconcile payment variances and correct accounts accordingly.
  • Handle all incoming emails from internal and external customers to resolve account issues and misapplication of funds.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of accounting clerical, general ledger, and accounts receivables experience.
  • Strong 10-key data entry and mathematical skills.
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal and external clients.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree.
  • Three years of experience in banking, insurance, or related payment processing fields.
